Edith KEARNS Obituary
KEARNS, Edith (LeGeyt)
Born in November 1924, Edith (LeGeyt) Kearns passed into eternal life on October 16, 2013, at Saint Mary Home. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Kearns of West Simsbury; her mother, Frances (Mirick) Rust of Simsbury; father Theodore LeGeyt of Barkhamsted; and son Bruce E. Kearns of Granby. Her surviving relatives are; sister Dorothy DiBattista of Margate, FL; daughters, Marie Kearns of Boca Raton, FL and Patricia (Frank) Julian of Windsor Locks; son James Kearns of Riverside, CA; nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was employed by Simsbury Bank & Trust prior to their move to Florida, and was active in several local civic organizations. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and won awards in competitions. She loved bingo, knitting, needlework, playing cards and arts and crafts. The family would like to thank the staff of West 2 at St. Mary Home and Hebrew Health Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided to mom.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 6, 11 a.m. at the Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Rd in Simsbury. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hebrew Health Hospice, 2 Wintonbury Mall, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or Windsor Locks Lions Ambulance P. O. Box 105 Windsor Locks CT 06096. The Kearns house was like my second home years ago when I was in college. I spent many happy times there because mom Eddie always made me feel like part of the family. She was a wonderful woman. Rest easy Mom Kearns.
