Edward F. LINDEMAN

Edward Frederick Lindeman, 94, of West Hartford, CT and the Duncaster Community in Bloomfield, CT, husband of Barbara Tilden Lindeman for 62 years, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was born in New Britain, CT, son of the late Emil and Pauline (Mantei) Lindeman. Edward began his career at the Hartford Insurance Group in 1952 and retired in 1983 as an officer of the company overseeing the Treasury Department. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and Bentley School of Accounting and Finance (now Bentley University) where he served on the President's Council. He served in World War II in the Army Medical Corp stationed in France. Edward was a member of the Old Guard and Unitarian Universalist Church of West Hartford, CT. In 1978, he founded the Easter Seals Greater Hartford Golf Tournament and served on their board for several years. Edward and Barbara enjoyed Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT for over 50 years and were both avid golfers. They also enjoyed golf vacations, travels throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He is survived by his daughters Lucy and husband John Carty of Barnstable, MA and Amy and husband Charles Gouger of West Barnstable, MA; granddaughters Lisa Carty of Hyannis, MA and Stephanie Carty of Barnstable, MA; great- granddaughter Hope Carty of Hyannis, MA; and two nephews Fred Berner of Newington, CT and Robert Berner of Rocky Hill, CT. He was predeceased by his sister Elsie and husband Fred Berner. A memorial service at the Unitarian Universalist Church in West Hartford, CT will be held at a later date.
