Edward Stephens Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Edward T. Stephens II. Edward passed away peacefully on Dec. 10th, 2013 with family and close friends by his side. Ed now is reunited with his late parents Reginald W. and Joan C. Stephens. Ed is survived by his son Nate and his wife Crystal and by his daughter Megan and her husband Ryan Stout. Ed leaves behind his four beloved grandchildren, Riley, Olivia, Benedict and Paul. He leaves his sister Sally Stephens and his dear long time friends Fran Picchioni and Bette Ann McCullem. Ed was born on Sept. 21, 1954 in New Haven, CT. He graduated from Univ. of New Haven in 1977 and spent 33 years as a self-employed CPA. He grew up with a strong sense of pride for his country, for the American flag and the right to bear arms. Ed enjoyed every aspect of life, though cut too short. He was passionate about fishing, biking, hiking, golf, playing volleyball at the beach, dancing and the drum corps life. He amazed everyone with his talents for making beautiful furniture and creating works of art. Having a green thumb, he took great pride in his organic vegetable gardens. Relatives and friends may join the family on Sat. Dec. 14th at 11:00 for a Mass at St. Mary's Church at 54 Grove St. in Clinton, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions cam be made to Common Good Gardens, P.O. 1224, Old Saybrook, CT.

On days when the weather is warm and the skies are so blue, I think about you sitting on my deck saying "it just doesn't get better than this". I miss those days and now I sit on my deck alone and say those words and remember you.
With love, Fran

Well, it has been 11 years , December 10th, since u have left this earth to go to another place.
I want to tell u a story.
December 6th, I bought a new stove, I was happy. I could cook a turkey. Yah!
While the men putting in the new stove, I had asked them to look at the microwave, over the stove, that hasn't worked for over 12 years. They reviewed it. They plugged it in the outlet, guess what? it worked.
I will still use the countertop microwave, u bought me for my 60th birthday.
I had a good laugh. Something so simple, who would have thought.
That's life.
Love, Sal Gal

I still miss Ed everyday. His photo is on my buffet table and I can feel his presence and veil of protection that he promised to me and his sister Sally. Our guardian angel. Ed was my best friend for many years thru good times and not so good, but we always had great respect and love for each other.

It's been a year and a day since you left this world...in body buy not in spirit. I miss you terribly and think about you every day. We've had many wonderful years together, my dear and trusted friend. Lots of laughs and grand plans for the future. Every day was Saturday and life was good. I'll honor you by keeping up your amazing garden, by making your famous fiery salsas and roasting you Joe E. Parker chile peppers every August. I loved you then, I love you now and I'll love you always.

I found this poem on Ed's office desk. I would like to share this with you.

Sometimes things may or may not be true, man needs to believe in the most
People are basically good.
Honor, Courage and Virtue mean everything
Power and money means nothing
Good always triumphs over evil.
True love never dies
Doesn't matter if true or not-man needs to believe because they are worth believing-in.

Ed, you will be missed, everyday
Love always, Sal Gal

Ed was the master of Salsa at our gatherings, and wins the award for "most excited about his man cave". His stories were entertaining, his genius apparent in our conversations. I'm a neighbor in Phx and am saddened to hear of his passing.Peace, my friend, Peace...

We have been with Ed since almost the start of his career and he never failed to ask about our horses and dogs. We enjoyed hearing about his trips to Arizona, his kids and grandkids and his garden here which he enjoyed so much. Thank you for the call letting us know of his passing he will be missed by many.
