Edwin "Ed" E. Emmons, 82, of East Granby, beloved husband of Beverly (Fenton) Emmons, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at McLeans in Simsbury. He was born May 14, 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut. Ed grew up in Windsor, the son of the late Walter and Hazel Emmons. He served his country honorably during the Korean War as a member of the US Navy. Before his retirement in 1993 Ed served as a Purchasing Manager for Combustion Engineering. A photography enthusiast, Ed was a member of the Photographic Society of America and the Simsbury Camera Club. He was also a member of the Simsbury RC Club and the Hartford Audubon Society. In addition to his wife Bev, he is survived by his children, Wendy J. Parsons and her husband Roy of Windsor; Terry A. Emmons of East Windsor; Bonnie L. Emmons of East Granby; Laurie E. Morris and her husband Richard of East Granby; his brothers, Walter and Earl Emmons, his sister, Patricia Porteus, his grandchildren, Jason, Lindsey, Alicia, Daniel, Cory, Olivia and Hayley, as well as two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Maddox. Besides his parents Ed was predeceased by his brother, William Emmons and his sister, Hazel Jacobsen. Ed's family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Way and Hospice at McLeans in Simsbury. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 11 a.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. His family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Such fond memories from years gone by from spoonville even if it was just a quick hello as I was cutting through your yard on my way to the Joyce's. Ed was a great man and will be missed dearly.
