COX, Eleanor R. (Harrington)
Eleanor R. (Harrington) Cox, 87 of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Walter J. Cox, Sr. died peacefully with family at her side Saturday, (July 13, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Boston, MA on March 8, 1926 daughter of the late Cornelius D. Harrington, Sr. and Rose Connelly Harrington. Eleanor lived in South Windsor for the past 42 years. Prior to raising a family Eleanor was a telephone operator for New England Telephone. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor and was a volunteer for Friends in Service Here (F.I.S.H.). She enjoyed traveling and always had her bags packed for the latest adventure. She was an avid bridge player and had a group of very special friends she enjoyed playing with. She leaves her children, Susan G. Cox of New York, NY; Walter J. Cox, Jr. and his wife, Gloria, of Colchester; Christopher G. Cox and his wife, Karen, of Graniteville, VT and Mary Mahoney and her husband, Neal of Manchester. She also leaves a brother, Cornelius D. "Buzz" Harrington, Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Palm City, FL; and a sister, Ann Kulisa and her husband, Chester, of Dudley, MA; sister-in-law, Eloise Harrington of St. Simons Island, GA. Eleanor also leaves grandchildren Frank and Brian Tostarelli; Samuel and Emma Cox; Melissa and ChrisPatrick Cox, and Meredith Estes; and great-granddaughter, Cora Estes; and loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by younger brother, David Harrington.
Her family will receive friends, Saturday July 27 from 9-11 a.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. Memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor, CT or F.I.S.H., P.O. Box 539, South Windsor, CT 06074.
