Elena "Helen" Donadio

1916 - 2013

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elena "Helen" Donadio, announce her passing on Sunday (December 22, 2013) at the age of 97. Helen was born in Hartford, June 2, 1916, to the late Antonio and Seraphina Melillo and was a life long resident. She was the beloved wife of William Donadio who predeceased her in 1976. As a young woman Helen worked for G. Fox & Company and E.J. Korvette and she also volunteered politically. Helen loved spending time with her family and traveled with them extensively. She also loved going to the casino. Of all her accomplishments, her most cherished was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Helen is survived by her children and their spouses, whom she always referred to as her daughter and sons; Nicholas and Lucille Donadio of St. Augustine Beach, Florida, Anthony Donadio of Hartford, Nancy & Lee Devin of Windsor Locks, Genie and Gene McDonald of Windsor. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Helen was a remarkable woman who touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed. She had a very generous heart and we will be forever grateful to her for the most precious gift of all, her gift of love. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Her family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 from 9 to 11 am at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 am at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock.
