Eleonor Greco Obituary

"Addio Eleonore" Eleonor (Zimmermann) Greco, 80, of West Hartford, beloved wife of Elio Greco, died Monday, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in Birsfelden, Switzerland to the late Paul and Emma (Jauslin) Zimmermann, she moved to the U.S. in 1962, to work as an Au-Pare and to perfect her English, which was one of five languages she spoke. In 1962 she also met the love of her life Elio. They would begin their lives in the South End of Hartford, before moving to West Hartford, to raise their family. Eleonor was a selfless caring woman, who loved gardening and working outside, but her family was the most important thing in her life. She always made it a priority to take care of her family and all the special people she came across. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons; Garry Greco and his wife Shari of Farmington and Glenn Greco and his wife Geraldine of Hartford. And her special grandchildren, Nicolas and Mia Greco, of Farmington, who were her joy every day. She is additionally survived by her niece, Christine Zimmermann, nephews, Eric and Bruno Zimmermann, a sister in law Madlene, and a goddaughter Denise Aman, of Switzerland. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a brother, Rolf Zimmermann. Funeral services will be Friday (December 20, 2013) with the Celebration of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 N. Main St. West Hartford, burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lahiri and Dr. Padilla, and the nurses at St. Francis and fourth floor at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of the donor's choice. Words are certainly inadequate to express the sadness I feel by your loss. It's always too soon to lose a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
May the love you shared, and your memories of her, sustain you during this time of grieving
