Elizabeth Buckland Obituary
Elizabeth (Carroll) Buckland, 90, of East Granby, wife of the late Charles H. Buckland, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Governor's House in Simsbury. She was born September 4, 1923 in Springfield, MA and had lived in Windsor Locks and Burlington for many years prior to moving to East Granby. Elizabeth was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod and playing cards, especially Rummy with her grandchildren and close friend Irene Poppel. She is survived by her six children, George Dickey of Simsbury; David Dickey and his wife Marlene of Colchester and their children, Bryan, Erin and Matthew; Sally Cowles and her husband Rollin of East Granby and their children Caroline and Andy; Bruce Buckland of Burlington and his children, Julie, Joshua, Nicholas, Sadie, Patrick and Olivia; Elizabeth Buckland of Bristol and William Buckland of Coventry and his children, James, Shannon and William; eight great grandchildren and her close friends Irene Poppel and Donna Folgherait. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 23rd, 10:00 AM at Center Cemetery on Main Street in Rocky Hill. Dear Betty, Billy, and Bruce,
I am so sorry to see that Aunt Betty has passed away. I have so many fond memories of Aunt Betty and Uncle Charlie from when we lived on Lynn Lane and from holidays and family gatherings at Papa's in Wethersfield. Thank you for being my dear, sweet, friend for the last 36 years who never stopped loving me and always treated me like a daughter. You were always there for me thru the ups and downs and I will be forever thankful. I will miss you Betty. Rest in peace.

Betty, I entered a message in the Funeral Home site. I know your mom was loved much by my grandmother, so much to be made an "Italian sister". This meant a lot, especially after both their husbands were gone and they shared their baking and meetings together. It has been many years since our growing up in Windsor Locks and it is another journey with the loss of parents particularly a mom.
She is at rest and 90 is a wonderfully long life!

Nana, You are going to be greatly missed by all. I feel lucky to have you as my nana and I will never forgot all of the wonderful memories with you.
