Elizabeth Flood Obituary
Elizabeth "Betsy" C. Flood, 55 of Manchester, formerly of Portland passed away Sunday December 15, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Mary (Kennedy) Flood. Born on February 20, 1958 in Middletown, she lived in Portland for most of her life. At one time, she owned a toy store in Portland called "Elizabeth's" and a crafts enterprise named "Castle In the Woods". She leaves her loving partner, Richard Sonntag and his granddaughter, Madison Stanchick, sisters and brothers, Ellin Murphy of Plymouth, MA, Patrick Flood of East Calais, VT, Mary Flood of Portland, William Flood of Queen Creek, AZ and Joseph Flood of Guilford, She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Thomas W. Flood Jr., Anne Flood Sandalls, Timothy C. Flood, John F. Flood and Michael E. Flood, and by a nephew, Benjamin Sandalls. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 21, 2013 with a Mass at 10 AM at the Church of St. Mary 51 Freestone Ave Portland. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Portland. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at Portland Memorial Funeral Home 231 Main St Portland from 8:30 to 9:30AM prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter 659 Tower Ave 1st Floor Hartford, CT. 06112. To the Flood Family and Richard Sonntag and Madison Stanchick; I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Betsy. She was a great lady, and I thank her for loving my granddaughter Madison Stanchick. My prayers are with everyone. I am sorry I did not attend the wake, as of today, Dec. 23, 2013 is the first time I have heard of this sad event from a friend.
