LANZA, Elizabeth M.
Elizabeth M. (Matyola) Lanza, 68, of West Hartford, passed away, Monday (November 4, 2013), at her home surrounded by her family. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, daughter of the late John and Milka (Moravek) Matyola, she was raised in NJ, graduated from the University of Maine at Orono, and received her Master's Degree from CCSU. Liz was active for many years in Connecticut's early care and education community. At Capitol Region Education Council she conducted professional development sessions for child care providers and parenting seminars at community venues and corporate sites. At Eastern CT Health Network's Family Development Center she continued teaching parenting classes and was involved in the department's staff development efforts and program quality assurance. She also taught child development courses at Capitol Community College. Liz enjoyed attending her granddaughter's soccer games and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She leaves her son Jared Lanza and his wife Teresa of San Diego, CA; two daughters Janna Thompson and her husband Phillip of West Suffield and Becky Alleyne of West Hartford; four grandchildren Kyanna Alleyne, Ryan Lanza, Jaime Thompson, and Caitlin Thompson; a brother Daniel Matyola; a nephew; and among many cousins triplets Gail, Georgette, and Gerie Madak.
Her family will receive friends Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in Celebration of her Life at 3 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon.
