Evelyn Ahlquist

Evelyn (Peterson) Ahlquist, 93, of Kensington, widow of Russell W. Ahlquist, passed away Wednesday (November 20, 2013) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. A New Britain native and former resident, she lived in Kensington since 1966. Evelyn was a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1938; was a member of the First Lutheran Church in New Britain; a former member of the Shuttle Meadow Country Club; and was a supporter of the Auxiliary at the Hospital of Central CT as well as many other charitable organizations. Evelyn and Russ were married for 71 years. She was devoted to her husband and took great pride in her family. She enjoyed corresponding with relatives and friends on special occasions and holidays. Here family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Hospital of Central CT. Surviving are: her daughter, Beverly Harris and her husband Donald of Berlin; two grandsons, Todd Harris and his wife Cindy of Plantsville and Mark Harris and his wife Jennifer of Berlin; four great grandchildren, Eric, Abby, Nicole and Jake Harris; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Russ, she was predeceased by an infant son, Keith in 1947 and three brothers, Robert, Arthur and Norman Peterson. Funeral services and burial in Fairview Cemetery were private. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting the family with arrangements.
