Gary PARKER Obituary
Gary B. Parker, 71, a long time resident of Bristol and beloved husband of wife Denice J.(Godla) Parker, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 19, 2014. Born March 14, 1942, he was the son of Mary (Bell) Parker and the late Ernest Parker.
Gary was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and went on to receive his Master's degree at West Virginia University. He then served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He went on to teach Social Studies at Bristol central High School for more than 32 years. Outside of work, Gary was an avid golfer and reader and enjoyed watching sports including UCONN basketball. Most importantly, he loved his family and will be dearly missed.
Besides his wife Denice and mother Mary, he is survived by his daughter Cristin (Parker) Terwilleger and her husband Lucas of Wolcott, son Jon Parker and his wife Laura of Burlington, grandson Alex Parker, his two brothers Jeffery Parker of Bristol and Terry Parker of Southington along with his nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday January 22, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave, Forestville/Bristol. Funeral Services will also be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, Thursday January 23, 2014 at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 9:30 am until the time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway- Suite 100, Rocky Hill, Ct. 06075
