Gary Szydlo Obituary
Gary Szydlo, 55, of Collinsville, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was born September 10, 1958 in Hartford, beloved son of Ernest Szydlo of Collinsville and the late Mildred (Thomas) Szydlo. Gary enjoyed watching TV and singing, especially the theme song of COPS, "Bad Boys". He also loved children, playing with his toys which he stuffed into a tube sock, ALL animals and eating various types of food. Gary participated in the Special Olympics winning medals in several events. Besides his loving father, Gary is survived by siblings, Ernest W. Szydlo, Jr. and his wife Donna of Bristol, Thomas Szydlo and his wife Linda of New Britain, Cathy Szydlo of Collinsville, Randal Szydlo and his wife Tearie of Houston, TX, Gail Szydlo of Collinsville and Cherie Osmun and her husband Darrell of Collinsville and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be celebrated Thursday, January 2nd at 1:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Calling hours will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Connecticut, 2666 State Street, Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517-2232. Gary was one of my favorite students when I taught school. Gary attended the public school I taught in. He was one of the first group of students from MTS. I will always remember the joy he brought with his smile.
