BERUBE, George R.
George R. Berube, 85, beloved husband of Regina (Uricchio) Berube, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (October 20, 2013). He was born in New Bedford, Mass. and was son to the late Leander and Harriet (Lamonte) Chase Berube. He graduated and attended St. Anthony High School, New Bedford, Mass and then the CT State Police Academy and worked as a State Trooper, protecting Governor Meskill and Governor John Dempsey at the Governor's Mansion for many years, retiring from CT State Police in 1979. At 40 years old, he earned a Bachelor's Degree from CCSU, and later worked at the Enfield High School, where he taught in the Graphic Arts department. He later also owned and operated Alpha Printing Company with his son, George. He enjoyed carpentry and made many pieces of furniture and also enjoyed his many trips to Florida. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Enfield. In addition to his wife Regina, he is also survived by his son; George R. Berube Jr. and his wife Janice of Grafton, Vermont, a daughter, Gail Wysocki and her husband, Gary of Somers, CT, beloved grandson Kevin Wysocki and foster grandson, Justin Vieu and his step-children: Michael Gage, Karen Sagarino and Sherry Gage and their families. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Doris Kalberer and his brother Maurice Berube.
Funeral services will begin Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd, Enfield, followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Somers Center Cemetery, Battle St, Somers. Visitation hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the Browne Memorial Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations can be made to: St. Francis Residence, 1335 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082. Attn: Sister Joan Marie.
