George Davis Obituary



George L. Davis, 85, beloved husband of Patricia (Bowers) Davis of Wethersfield, passed away December 29, 2013 in Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Clayton and Gertrude (Hawley) Davis and lived in the area all of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was a salesman for Connecticut Natural Gas. George was a nature lover, and outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, duck hunting, and bird watching. He was a great family man who spent many vacations on Cape Cod and Lake Champlain, making happy memories for everyone. George and Pat eventually moved to Harwich, spending 15 years there before moving back to Canton, CT. Along with his loving wife Pat of 63 years, George leaves two sons, Stephen Davis and his wife Barbara, Craig Davis and his wife Debi, all of Wethersfield; two daughters, Barbara (Davis) Keating and her husband Robert, of Wethersfield, and Jennifer Davis of Avon. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Patrick, Emily, Catherine, Kelly, Melissa, James, and Abigail. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his brother Paul Davis. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Friday January 3, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating George's life will be held Saturday January 4, 2014 at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 31), 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George's name to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr, Wallingford, CT 06492.
