Germaine Albert Obituary

Germaine (Deschaine) Albert, 89, of Bristol, died peacefully at Ingraham Manor in Bristol on January 15, 2014. She was a beloved mother of eight, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and devoted wife. She was a woman of strong faith; she embraced her family and all the joys it brought. She was born in Frenchville, Maine on June 12, 1924. She was married to the late Walter Albert in 1942 and moved to Connecticut in 1953, eventually settling in Terryville. She worked at OZ Gedney for over 20 years before her retirement. Along with her husband and children she was a caterer for many years. She also was an avid bingo player and card player and was a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Society. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Albert, two sons, Camille Albert who died two years ago, and Sgt. Major Phillip Albert, US Army, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2003. Germaine is survived by six children: Joan Vallee-Caron, Nancy Rama and her husband Thomas, Donald Albert and his wife Jocelynn, Richard Albert and fiancee, Kathy, all of Bristol, Rinette Pelletier and her husband Emile of Middletown, and Judy Lebel and her husband Lucien of Somers. She has 12 grandchildren, Timmy Vallee, Lisa Bayne, Tina Keegan, Donna Hayes, Michelle Tarca, James and Julie Pelletier, Cindy Mike, Carrie Camus, Michael Albert, Stacy Mosback, and Paul Albert, all in Connecticut. She also has 29 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother in law Priscilla and Roger Cyr of Biddeford Maine; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (January 20, 2014) at 10 AM at St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Monday between 8 AM and 9:30 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the SGM Philip Albert Scholarship Fund, c/o American Legion Post 20, 245 Main St., Terryville, CT 06786.
