QUINTANA, Gloria Isabel (Cuervo)
Gloria Isabel (Cuervo) Quintana, 89, of Middletown, beloved wife of Manuel "Manolo" Quintana, passed away peacefully Sunday (June 9, 2013) at Wadsworth Glen Health Care Center in Middletown CT surrounded by her family. Born May 22, 1924 in Bogota, Colombia and raised by the late Maria Isabel (Cuervo) and Osvaldo Lamar in Colombia, Uruguay and Cuba. She was also predeceased by her brother Armando Cuervo. While in Cuba she met and married Manolo Quintana, had a son Manuel "Manolito/Manny" Quintana and worked for the French Embassy. In 1969 Gloria, Manolo and Manolito moved to the United States where she worked for Wesleyan University's Romance Language Department for 22 years. Gloria was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband Manolo, Gloria will be fondly remembered by her loving family; a son and his wife, Manny and Kathleen Quintana of Cromwell; along with her three precious grandchildren, Ellen, Francisco, and Andrew Quintana; two brothers Osvaldo and Manuel Lamar and their families and many relatives including Ester, Gustavo, Haidee, Marta Quintana and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral procession will be Thursday June 13 at 9 a.m. from D 'Angelo Funeral Home at 22 Main Street Middletown with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Gloria's life at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Burial will be at St. Sebastian's Cemetery in Middletown following the funeral Mass. Gloria's family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday evening June 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at D 'Angelo Funeral Home at 22 Main Street, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Quintana's passing. I remember her very well from the Romance Languages Department at Wesleyan, in the early 1980's. She was a lovely lady.
