VORMSTEIN, Gloria Helene (Meyer)
Gloria Helene (Meyer) Vormstein, 96, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Henry W. Vormstein, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Suffield House, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 1, 1916, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter to the late J. Eugene and Emma (Tabel) Meyer. Gloria grew up in Brooklyn and was a graduate of the Pace Institute of Business. In 1946, she was married to Henry Vormstein and, together, they raised a family in Huntington, NY, where she worked as a secretary for the Harborfields school district. Gloria was a friendly, outgoing woman who enjoyed travel, golf, bowling, and sewing. A kind, caring, and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed. She leaves her daughter, Lois Vormstein-Schneider of Suffield; four grandchildren, Derrik Fox, Clayton Fox, Douglas Vormstein-Schneider and Heather Vormstein-Schneider, as well as her son-in-law, Scott Schneider. Gloria was predeceased by two daughters, Elaine Gloria Vormstein and Karen Gail Vormstein.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, from 9 - 10:15 a.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North (Rt. 159) Suffield; followed by a service at 11 a.m., at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 20 North Street, Enfield. Burial will be private at the request of her family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 and (or) Connecticut Human Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
