Harold Adrion Obituary
Harold Oler Adrion, 92, of Avon, beloved husband of Terry Adrion passed away Tuesday, (December 17, 2013) at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. He was born in Dublin, IN on March 7, 1921, the son of the late George and Grace Adrion. He received his degree from Tri State University in Aeronautical Engineering. He earned his Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering from SMU in Dallas, TX. After graduating from Tri State in 1944, he worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Stamford. In 1961, he moved with his wife and son to West Hartford to work for United Aircraft in East Hartford. He retired in 1989. After retiring, he developed a passion for tutoring math and science. He tutored thousands of students, many pro bono, enthusiastically watching their progress from 1989 until June 2013. Besides his wife Terry of 61 years, he is survived by his beloved son, Harold Lewis Adrion; and granddaughter, Lexane Lago Adrion. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of West Hartford, 90 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06107 or Tunxis Community College Foundation, Academic Support Center, 271 Scott Swamp Road, Farmington, CT 06032. I am so very sorry to hear of Harold's passing. He was an incredible man, so very generous and the world is that much more lacking with his absence. It was a privilege to have known him.

Dear Adrion family, I feel so fortunate to have known Harold Adrion. Brilliant,elegant,warm,gallant, generous, sincere, kind, patient, genuine,encouraging, humorous -- I could go on and on extolling the many virtues of this man. He was an excellent tutor, a wonderful colleague, and a caring friend. He always made the people around him feel special. The phrase "a gentleman and a scholar" might seem cliche, but Mr. Adrion was indeed the epitome of both. Much sympathy to his wife, Terry, and the Adrion family on your loss. I wish you peace during this time.

To me, Mr. Adrion will always be remembered as a kind person who was patient with everyone he met. An amazing spirit. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Harold at a Lifelong Learning Association Luncheon several years ago. I got to see him in the library many times since then, on his way to the tutoring center. What a difference one life can make.
