Hazel Kraiza

1929 - 2013

Hazel O. (Oldroyd) Kraiza, 84, of East Hartland, died peacefully at home on November 13, 2013 with several members of her family by her side. Hazel was born on April 14, 1929 in Harford. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Flowers) Oldroyd of Windsor. She was married to the late Harry Kraiza for 53 years. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Muriel DiGiro, Francis Fedo and Clara Althen. She is survived by her son, Harry Jr. and his wife Sue of Farmington, son, Charles, of Granby, son, Larry of Suffield, daughter, Janet Box of Buffalo, TX, son Fred and his wife Judy of Willis, TX and her daughter Jennifer Gomez and her husband Vinnie of East Hartland. She also leaves 11 grandchildren - Kristin McAlpin. Nicole Lebow, Jessica Kraiza, Alice Kraiza, Elizabeth Kraiza, Chaz Kraiza, Carolyn Whetstone, Devon Gomez, Paige Gomez, Krystal Sloane, and Irene Kraiza, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. One of her most memorable joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel to Maine and Vermont, grow orchids, feed the Cardinals and Bluebirds, dance the Polka, swim at the YMCA in Westfield, quilting, doing puzzles and collecting lighthouses. Her family would like to thank the Farmington Valley VNA Hospice Group and her two constant caregivers, Jennifer Scriven and Rita Cassasa, for their compassionate and exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Hazel's name can be made to the East Hartland Volunteer Fire Department and 1st Responders, 34 South Rd., East Hartland 06027. Her family will receive friends on (Friday) November 15, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North (Rt. 159), Suffield. A Memorial service will be held on (Saturday) November 16, 2013, 11a.m., at the First Church in Hartland, Congregational, 5 Hartland Blvd, East Hartland.
