Hazel Marie Mongillo

1921 - 2013

Hazel Marie (Reed) Mongillo, 92, of Southington died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the HCC Bradley Memorial Campus. She was the wife of the late Ralph Mongillo. Born October 21, 1921 in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Elizabeth (Schissler) Reed. She was a resident of Southington most of her life, she and Ralph built their house on Woodruff St. Early in her life she was employed in manufacturing. Later she ran her own cleaning service, working until she was over eighty years old. She was an active parishioner of St. Dominic Church and their Ladies Guild serving on several committees. Hazel is survived by her Godchild, Barbara Hemingway and husband Edward of East Hampton; niece Joan Laurendeau and her daughter Carrie Smith both of Bristol; special friend, Carlene Michaud of Southington and several generations of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased her daughter Nancy and her siblings. A special thank you to Hazel's caregivers at Mulberry Gardens, Colleen and her staff at the C & M Tender Loving Home Care Agency and to Brian Meccariello who was her attorney and a good friend. Everyone is invited to attend Hazel's Funeral Mass on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
