Henry JUENGST Obituary



Henry E. Juengst, 87, of Kensington, widower of Christa (Winkler) Juengst, passed away Thursday, (November 21, 2013) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, son of the late Frederick William Juengst and Marie L. Wilhelm and his adopted parent, Astrid Linnea Johnson Juengst, Fred's second wife. He lived in Kensington since 1960. Henry was a Radarman Third Class in the US Navy, serving on a mine sweeper, the U.S.S. Speed, in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed at the former Landers Frary & Clark Company and was a Master Tool & Die Maker at Fafnir Bearing Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1988. Henry was a member of Kensington Congregational Church and of the Bible Study Group at the church. Surviving is his son, Steven Juengst and his wife Nota Yannios-Juengst of Simsbury; two brothers, James Frederick Juengst and his wife Barbara of Madison; and Frederick William Juengst and his wife Dorothy of Green Bay, WI; two sisters, Linda Anne Eckblom and her husband Carl of Manchester; and Eleanor Astrid Blankenburg and her husband William of South Windsor; two step grandchildren, Sophia Papadogonakis of Simsbury and Danny Papadogonakis and his wife Grace and their children Michael and Daniel of Norwalk; several nieces and nephews, including Theresa Marie Juengst, Melinda Anne Blankenburg Dawley (Ralph Edward Dawley), Kristina Marie Juengst Sendall (Maurice Jason Sendall), Frederick William Blankenburg (MaryKate Nyman Blankenburg), Patricia Marie Juengst Magee (Douglas John Magee), Scott Severin Blankenburg (Irene Wong Blankenburg), Deborah Marian Juengst Martinez (Alex Martinez), Brian Carl Eckblom (Karen Marie Schweitzer Eckblom), Derrick Willareth Juengst, Gregory James Eckblom, and Elizabeth Astrid Eckblom Ringuette (James Ringuette); and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral Services are Tuesday 11 a.m. at Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Ave., Kensington, CT 06037. Burial with military honors will follow in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington. Calling hours are Monday 6-8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kensington Congregational Church.
