James Callahan Larkin

1952 - 2013

James Callahan Larkin, 61, of West Hartford passed away in his sleep Saturday, (November 9, 2013). Born in Hartford to James Emon (Mary Louise Callahan) Larkin on March 29, 1952. An alumnus of Our Lady of Sorrows, Bulkeley High and Bates College. He was a voracious reader of Civil War anecdotes and always had a book with him. He loved going to the cinema. In addition, he was fond of dressing with style and of spit polished shoes and hats. He was an honorable discharged veteran. His career included F&B hotel management as well as being a certified lead inspector for the City of Hartford. He is survived by his son John Callahan (Courtney Blair) Larkin and his grandchildren; Jack Hennessey, Eleanor Riley and Elizabeth Skelly. He was previously married to Christine Hennessey-Larkin all of Glastonbury. He is further survived by his Mother, Mrs. James E. Larkin; his fraternal twin brother Kevin Callahan Larkin and his brother Matthew Callahan Larkin all of West Hartford. His cousins James John (Mary Jo Toomey) Callahan of Bellevue, WA; Dr. Richard F. (Nancy Temple) Horan of Medfield, MA; Dianne Larkin (Joseph) Pandolfe of Berlin; Thomas (Rebecca W.) Larkin of Richmond,VA; Richard (Mamella Murphy) Wontka of Plymouth, MA; Carol (Paul) Baumes of Cohoes, NY; Andy (Nancy Bourgoin) Wontka and Linda K. Callahan (Thomas) Espy of Santa Rosa, CA. As well as many nephews and nieces; and many friends esp. Khalif Majied of Hartford and Atty John W. Callahan of East Hartford. His father James Emon Larkin; his brother Michael James Larkin; his grandparents John Arthur (Nellie Connelly) Callahan and James Patrick (Sarah Hopkins) Larkin: all predeceased him. Private services have been held according to James' wishes. Memorials in his name to CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111. Memorial Service to be held Friday, November 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Dunstan's Church in Glastonbury. Carmon Funeral Home, Windsor.
