SAVERY, James A., Sr.
James Abner Savery Sr, 71, passed away at home in Hartford on Sunday, (August 4, 2013). Born on Jan. 24, 1942 in Hanover, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Frank Savery, Sr. and Louise (Lyford) Savery Dalrymple. He lived in Strafford, VT, White River Junction, VT and Hartford, CT most of his life. He graduated from Windsor CT High School in 1960 and joined the US Army where he was stationed in Germany for three years. He also served in the CT National Guard for five years. He was a member of VFW Post # 2571 in White River Junction, VT. He was a driver for CT Transit in Hartford, CT for 11 years and worked for Newman Lincoln Mercury in East Hartford. He also drove a mail truck from White River Junction, VT to Springfield, MA. He is survived by his sons, Michael Savery and his wife Suzanne, James Savery, Jr., his daughters, Shelley Casiano and her husband Tony (with whom James made his home) in Hartford, CT, Denise Garvin of Clairmont, NH and Kelly Welch of Strafford, VT, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He leaves his brothers, Frank Savery, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Strafford, VT, Bruce Savery and Brian Savery of NH, and his sister, Jean Walch of Turnbridge, VT. He also leaves his two former wives, Sandra Carpenter of Hartford, CT and Mary Hill of Clairmont, NH He was predeceased by his son, Ronald Savery, his brother, Daryl Savery, and his two sisters, Alice Basset and Darlene Moses.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 8, 2013, 5-7 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m., directly after the calling hours, at the funeral home.

My deepest sympathy to the Savery family. While I didn't often see Jim, he usually made it to the annual Lyford family reunion. He will be greatly missed by all. ~Cousin Diane Lyford Danforth
