James Seery Obituary



James Thomas Seery, 76, of Berlin, loving husband of Barbara Ann (Donella) Seery, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his home with his caring wife by his side. Born in Hartford on January 14, 1937, a son of the late James T. and Catherine (Brewer) Seery, he had resided in Wethersfield for many years and Florida for 20 years prior to moving to Berlin in 2007. Jim was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1955 and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Communications Manager for many years by the former Hartford National Bank, and Bank of America. Jim was an avid reader; loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, UCONN Women and Men's basketball teams; and enjoyed traveling with his wife and best friend, Barbara. "Papa Jim" will be deeply missed by his grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother, Robert Seery of Wethersfield; and three sisters, Catherine Shea of Farmington, Mary Seery of Rocky Hill, and Margaret "Peggy" Rossini of Newington. Along with his devoted wife Barbara, Jim is survived by two sons, Timothy J. Seery and his wife, Valerie, of Colchester, James "Jimmy" T. Seery and his wife, Cheryl, of Rocky Hill; a step-daughter, Christina Maraia and her husband, Joe, of New City, NY; a step-son James Bilotta and his wife, Emily, of Palm City, FL; his former wife, Timini "Timmy" Seery of Wethersfield; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, Mary Ann and Jim Murphy of Newington, Valerie and Jerry McTeague of Ellington. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be Saturday (November 23rd) at 1 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. Private burial will at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 127 Washington Avenue, 2nd Floor, North Haven, CT 06473.
