Jean MEAD Obituary

Jean Marie (Knofla) Mead, 79, of Vernon, beloved wife of Gordon Mead, leaves this world for the comfort of another with God; she passed away on Sunday, (December 1, 2013). She was born in Manchester on February 12, 1934. She went to Manchester Public Schools before going to the Cushing Academy in Ashburn, MA. Her college years were spent at Westbrook Jr. College of Portland, ME where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree, she also received her Bachelor in Education in Cambridge, MA at Lesley College. Her love for crocheting was strong and this brought her closer to others by sharing her talent. She enjoyed spending time on Bolton Lake. Besides her loving husband Gordon of 57 years, she leaves three sons, Gary Mead and his wife Vicky of Windsor, Glenn Mead and his wife Doris of Coventry, and Gregg Mead of Newington. She also leaves her grandchildren Nick, Chris, and Rich Mead whom she had such love for as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Knofla and Donald Knofla. There are no calling hours. Services are private at the family's request. Small & Pietras Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
