MILLER, Joan W.
Joan W. Miller, 80, of Middletown, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, (October 12). She had suffered a stroke in March and recently was under home hospice care. She learned to read ancient Greek and took pleasure in translating the New Testament. She coordinated student programs for the Wesleyan Project to Increase Mastery in Math and Science for high school students and teachers. In recent years she volunteered in the English as a Second Language program at the Middletown Adult Education center. My mother had a generous heart -- one of her favorite things to do was to shop for others and to give. She collected gifts to give for birthdays and Christmas all year. Her gifts to us and her time with is were solely an expression of her love. Hers was a life of giving and of love.
