SPEZIALE, Joan E. (Belanger)

Joan E. (Belanger) Speziale, 81 of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, (March 6, 2013) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain. She was the loving wife of the late John Speziale. Joan was born in Caribou, ME on Aug. 7, 1931, and was one of 18 children to the late Francois and Josephine (Sanfacon) Belanger. She moved to Connecticut and went on to work at The Wiremold Company where she was a dedicated employee for over 25 years until her retirement as one of their supervisors. She married John Speziale and together they raised their family. At home, she loved to bake especially cakes along with collecting figurine elephants which were everywhere. She also enjoyed traveling all around including Portugal and Hawaii. Joan loved to sing, dance and just enjoy life. Most importantly, she loved her family especially the time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of her life. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. She leaves her children Richard Chapman of Massachusetts; Diana Belanger of Bristol; Donna Rowe of Southington; Deborah and Bill Holmes of Massachusetts; David and Mary-K Chapman of Killingworth; Mary Hine of East Hampton and David Speziale of Newington; her grandchildren Roland, Jose, Jeffrey, Jason, Scott, Dawn, Hannah and Kevin; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Doris Plourde; her brothers Aurele, Richard, Nelson, Wilson, Walter, Joel, Bernard, and William Belanger; along with several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 4 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
