WENZEL, Joan Doris (Ryerson)
Joan Doris (Ryerson) Wenzel, 78, of Berlin, loving wife of Robert H. Wenzel for 53 years, died Saturday morning at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. Born in Medford, MA, the daughter of the late Gordon and the late Doris (England) Ryerson, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved the many gatherings at the lake with family and special friends that gave her many wonderful memories that will always be cherished. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Brian Wenzel of Middletown, and Scot and Kelly Wenzel of Berlin, a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Rector of Kensington, a brother, Wallace Ryerson of Ft. Myers, FL, seven grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Rector, and Allison, Sara, Ashley, Jenna, and Alyssa Wenzel, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George Bray Cancer Center, Hospital of Central Connecticut, P.O. Dear Wenzel Family, I am so so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed seeing Joan at the NHS basketball games. We talked and laughed and had a great time. She was a very kind and thoughtful person. She will be missed by all who knew her. God Bless you Joan, may you rest in peace.

Butch, Bobby, Donna and Scot,
Joannie will be missed by my family so much because your family is an extension of my immediate family for many years. We have had so many great times, laughs and family gatherings like our Annual Christmas Eve Celebrations and visit to the "Lake". Joan was an inspiration and important person in my life and alway's will be. she will be missed very dearly. My condolences go out to you and your entire family

Butch & Family,
So sorry for your loss. I remember all the parties at Winkie & Larry's in Bristol while growing up. Joan was always laughing and constantly had a big smile on her face, no doubt from something Larry and Butch just did or say! May the memories of that smile get you through this difficult time.
