ALBEE, John Edward Sr.
John Edward Albee, Sr., 86, of Windsor, formerly of South Yarmouth, MA and West Hartford, beloved husband of Barbara (Glidden) Albee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (May 26, 2013). He was born Sept. 3, 1926 in Saugerties, NY to the late Linus and Emma Jane (Myers) Albee, Raised in Hartford John graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1944 before joining the U. S. Navy and serving his country honorably at the end of World War II. A gifted athlete, he excelled at baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Before John's retirement he had worked for SNET for 30 years. Upon his retirement he and Barbara made their home in South Yarmouth for 28 years before moving back to Connecticut in 2011. He will be remembered for his quiet nature and as an honest man. In addition to his wife of 43 years John is survived by his children, John E Albee, Jr. and his wife Lesley of Brewster, MA; Cheryl Kettledon and her husband Paul of Colchester; step-son, Richard Rapacki of Willington; Joseph Rapacki, Jr and his wife Julie of Edina, Minnesota; his brother, Harry Albee and his wife Beatrice, his sister, Barbara Gilliespie, as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John's Funeral Service will be private. Donations in John's name may be made to MSPCA/Cape Cod ACAC, 1577 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA 02632. For online condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
