John Colturi Obituary



John S. Colturi, age 90 of East Granby, CT., peacefully entered eternal life, Saturday, November 1, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family. John was the devoted husband of 54 years to Julia (Mangini) Colturi. Born in Hartford, CT, John was the son of John and Verilda (Molta) Colturi. John served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS General John Pope troop transport ship for three years and was awarded several medals for his distinguished service to his country. After proudly serving his country, John worked for Connecticut General, as a type-set printer until retirement. After his retirement, John worked for Roma's Restaurant and Lox Stock and Bagel, where he made numerous friends. Besides his family, he was most proud of his service to St. Therese Church where he helped keep the church in beautiful condition and helped with Sunday fellowship hour. Besides his lovely wife, Julia, John leaves five daughters and one son and their spouses; Janet and Troy Shingleton, John and Linda Colturi, Joyce and Robert LeJeune, Joan Colturi, Jackie and Karl Wagner, and Margaret Kruck. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; Jennifer and spouse Glauco Grillo, Jared Colturi and fiancée Mary Clark, Derek and Brandon LeJeune, Alyssa and Nicole Wagner, Taylor and Jason Kruck and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held for family and relatives. Everyone is welcome to attend a mass at St. Therese Church in Granby, CT on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:30 AM. Donations in John's memory may be made to Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168 (Revenue supports military families in time of need).
