GEARIN, John Michael "Jack"
John Michael "Jack" Gearin passed away suddenly on Monday (July 29, 2013) at his home. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Lois (Manning) Gearin. His early years were spent in Thomaston, CT until his family moved to East Hartford. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School. Besides his wife for 34 years, Bonnie Gearin of Farmington, he is also survived by his daughter Heather (Gearin) Laprise, and son-in-law Steve of Vernon and their 3 children, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Emily Laprise, daughter Kathleen (Gearin) Weekes and husband Ben of East Haddam and their children Coty, Brandon, Sarah, Owen, and Colin, and son Michael Gearin and wife Mona of Vernon and their children Ashley, Jonnie, Joshua, Thomas, and Tyler Gearin. He is also survived by an uncle Joseph Ryan of St. Petersburg, FL, and a cousin Dorothy McGhee of Millerton, NY and a sister-in-law and niece - Mary Baltz and Abigail Baltz of New York City. He will also be missed by his dear, treasured and best friend Jerry Weiner, and his feline companion Jasper. He was also predeceased by his faithful German Shepard Chelsea. Jack was self employed in independent sales. Jack will be remembered for his sense of humor, ability to make you smile no matter how difficult your day was and his love and care for all of those who came through his door and touched his life. He loved the outdoors, the smell of fresh air and the warmth of the sun - especially at the ocean. He leaves his children with many wonderful childhood memories especially those when he commandeered their cabin cruiser out on the open sea - to go fishing. Jack was also a master gardener with two green thumbs designing gardens that brought beauty to all of those who visited them. He never lost that childlike wonder and excitement of the first snowfall each winter. The Family would like to thank the staff of Rockville Hospital, the Vernon Ambulatory Staff, the Vernon Fire Department who continued to provide high quality care during the last few years of Jack's life.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday (August 3rd) at 2:30 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT. So sorry to hear about your husband. I know it's been a long time because my kids are all grown..., but wanted you to know I was thinking of you.

I knew your father and mother many years ago when my late husband and Jack were in business together. Remember the Plaque Shack?

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I didn't know him personally but it's very apparent that he touched many lives. I know he will be missed by many.
