John MacDonald Obituary



John J. MacDonald, 85, of Forestville, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at The Connecticut Hospice, in Branford. John was born on August 21, 1928 in Waltham, MA, a son of the late Walter E. and Effie Jane (Kelly) MacDonald. Mr. MacDonald was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Electro Machine and Tool in 1983. He is survived by his son, John J. MacDonald and his wife Karen of Bristol; his daughter, Beth Tomanik and her husband Michael of Southington; two grandchildren, Scott and Kelly MacDonald of Bristol; his sister Agnes Nicholas of PA and several nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased by his wife Elizabeth A. (Nolan) MacDonald; his brother Edmund MacDonald; his three sisters, Marguerite LaRosa, Pauline Dobrynski and Barbara MacDonald. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, December 16, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol for the committal with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to: The Connecticut Hospice INC., Homeport Cove, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405-4906.
