John Thomas Obituary



John F. Thomas, 72 of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Southington Care Center after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Germaine (Dudeck) Thomas. Born in Nanticoke, PA, in 1941 he lived most of his life in Plantsville. John graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1960. In high school he was the quarterback for the football team, played on the baseball team and the basketball team. In 1960 the basketball team won the District 2 final. John joined the Air force in 1962, he married Germaine in 1963. He worked for Bethlehem Steele in Bethlehem, PA and for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 40 years. He was extremely loving and kind. John is survived by his son, Keith Thomas and wife Mai of Spokane, WA; two grandchildren, Kevin and Emma; a sister Catherine Ridout and husband Thomas of Hunlock Creek, PA, brothers-in-law Harold Dudeck of Bethlehem, PA and Roy Dudeck of Kingston, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Ellen Cassens. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff St., Southington for a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Keith, my deepest condolences to you and your entire family on the passing of your father. He was a wonderful man, and helped to take very good care of my grandfather, Jerry. Now he is at peace with Gerry and then can entire eternal life together.
