URICCHIO, John H.
John H. Uricchio, 87, formerly of Windsor, passed away Thursday, (August 1, 2013) at Meadow Brook of Granby. Born, May 27, 1926 in Hartford son of the late Marco Antonio and Margaret (Henson) Uricchio. He lived in Windsor all his life. John attended John Fitch High School that was interrupted by him being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. John served in the 576th Field Artillery as a radio operator, serving state side until his discharge in 1946. He returned to finish high school in 1948. After high school John worked as a tobacco farmer for several area farms for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. During the 1950's he worked evenings at Barts, in Windsor. After retiring John worked part time at various places of business; Sweetlife, Southwest Airlines and C&S Wholesale. John enjoyed collecting coins and stamps in his free time. John is survived by a brother, Ralph Uricchio of Bloomfield; a sister, Madeline Edwards and her husband, Earl of Granby and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. John's family would like to thank all the caregivers for their attention to John at Meadow Brook of Granby and Farmington Valley Nurses Association.
John's family will receive friends Monday, August 5, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
