Judith Golec

1943 - 2013

Judith (Swanson) Golec, 70, of Canton, Michigan, wife the late Ernest Golec, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013, after a brief battle with breast cancer. Judy was born in Middletown, CT, on March 29, 1943, daughter of the late Joel and Frances (Mount) Swanson. She grew up in the Westfield section of Middletown and was a member of Third Congregational Church there. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1961, attended nursing school and later was employed as a statistician at Aetna in Hartford. After marrying her husband, Ernie, in 1965, she lived to Fall River, MA, for a short time and then moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where she and Ernie settled to raise their family. Judy had an interest in the study of genealogy and enjoyed spending time researching her family history. She was a Detroit Tiger baseball fan and was hopeful of their playoff possibilities this past season. Judy is survived by her three children, Theodore, Stephanie and Susan Golec, and a grandson, Adam Golec, all of Michigan. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lorraine Andrew and her husband Ross of Middletown, CT; Joel Swanson and his wife Priscilla of Murrells Inlet, SC; and Marjorie Buccilli and her husband Ron of East Hampton, CT; also many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. At that time, Judy will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Ernie, and her parents, Joel and Frances Swanson, in the Minor Street Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
