SKOG, Karen (Coyle)
Karen (Coyle) Skog of South Windsor, formerly of Vernon died on November 3, 2013 at the age of 68. Karen was the daughter of the late Richard W. Coyle and Mary Walker Coyle formerly of Vernon. She was the mother of Michael Shawn Skog of Mansfield and the late Chad Edward Skog. She was the devoted grandmother of Ryley Britton Skog and Race Michael Skog and also mother-in-law to the late Barbara W. Skog. Karen was the sister of Diann Silvia and her husband, Walter, of Canton, MA, Nancy Raymond and her husband, Henry, of Tolland, and Robert Coyle and his wife, Sandra, of Rutland, VT. She was the aunt of Bruce Raymond, Kim Martell and Timothy Silvia and the great aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was previously married to Edward Skog of Holden, MA. Karen graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, MA and from Manchester Community College in 1991 and Eastern State University of Connecticut in 1998. She majored in business and accounting. Karen worked for many years for F.L. & R. and later for several Connecticut insurance companies in the premium tax accounting field. She also worked in real estate sales for Prudential Realty and Caldwell Banker. Karen lived in Vernon for twenty years in the house that she decorated and loved. She was fond of telling stories about taking her boat on the Connecticut river and on the Charles river in Boston for the parade of the Tall Ships. She loved golf and introduced Ryley and Race to the game. She was a member for ten years of the American Singles Golf Association. She was involved in the Vernon Girls and Boys program and was a previous mentor to a young girl. Karen was a member of the American Board of Realtors, the Vernon Board of Realtors and the Hartford Board of Realtors. She was a member of the women's guild of St. Bernard Church in Vernon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 8 at noon at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Vernon. I am so sorry to hear about Karen. I worked with her at Prudential CT Realty, and most recently worked with her in selling her home. I got to know Karen on a different level during that time.
