Leon A. Nadeau Jr.

1946 - 2013

Leon A. Nadeau Jr., 67, of East Granby, CT peacefully passed away in his home on December 25, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 3, 1946 in Hartford to Etta and Leon A. Nadeau Sr. Leon is predeceased by his true love Elaine Nadeau after caring for her at home as she battled with cancer. Leon worked many careers throughout his life. He spent 4 years in the U.S. Army, obtained 3 medals, and achieved the rank of Sargeant prior to honorable discharge. Leon's calling was a 'hands on, fix it' kind of guy. He worked for 15 years within the engineering department at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center before retirement. Leon leaves behind his two sons; Brett Nadeau and his wife Amy of North Attleboro, MA and Gerald Nadeau and his wife Angela of West Hartford, CT. He also leaves three siblings; Dr. Ronald Nadeau and his wife Dr. Judith of Saint Cloud, FL, Beverly Fierro and her husband Phil of Newington, CT, and Dorothy 'Dottie' Searles of East Waterboro, ME. Leon is forever indebted to Dottie for the gentle care she provided as he passed from this world into God's kingdom. Most importantly Leon leaves behind his 4 grandchildren; Lucas, Theo, Norah, and Emily to whom he is known lovingly as 'Grampy'. Leon's face truly lit with any visit from his grandchildren. He also leaves many other family and friends who have provided him with many happy memories. Relatives and friends may join the family, Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2-4 PM at the Burke-Fortin funeral home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville. A funeral home service by Dr. Ronald Nadeau will take place Monday December 30, 2013, Family and friends may arrive at 10 AM prior to the 11 AM service.
