Leonard R. Pomaski

1921 - 2013

Leonard R. Pomaski, 92, of Canton, beloved husband of Anna (Yuhas) Pomaski, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton. He was born August 29, 1921 in Burlington, son of the late Adam and Stella (Jakubiak) Pomaski and had lived in Burlington prior to moving to Canton 57 years ago. He was a graduate of the Canton High School, Class of 1939. Leonard was a veteran of World War II having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Medical Corp in both the Rhineland Campaign and the Pacific Theater. Mr. Pomaski was a Machinist at Hamilton Standard for 20 years and at Sterling Engineering for 23 years prior to his retirement. After retiring, he spent many years working with his sons at the Pomaski Tool and Manufacturing Company in Collinsville. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Collinsville and a 23 year member and past Deputy Chief of the Canton Fire Department. Leonard enjoyed planting his vegetable garden every spring and sharing his great crops of tomatoes with his neighbors.Besides his loving wife of 67 years, he is survived by his daughter, Arleen M. Pomaski of Barkhamsted and his two sons, Leonard Pomaski and Donald Pomaski, both of Canton. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Wednesday, November 20th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 21st, 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Collinsville. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville.
