COWDREY, Lillie Droheim
Lillie Droheim Cowdrey, 94, of Wallingford, widow of Willis A. Cowdrey, died on Sunday (November 3, 2013) at Masonicare in Wallingford. Lillie was born on December 25, 1918 in Terryville and was a daughter of the late Arthur William Droheim and Bertha (Boetzel) Droheim. Raised in Bristol, she worked for New Departure and the Connecticut General Insurance Company (CIGNA). She has also resided in Terryville, West Hartford, Burlington, Farmington, and has lived in Wallingford since 1995. Lillie was an avid animal lover and world traveler. She was a member of Burlington Congregational Church and a life member of the Order of the Amaranth. Lillie is survived by a son and daughter in law, Bruce C. Cowdrey, Sr., and Jane Cowdrey of Farmington; two grandsons, ITSN David A. Cowdrey, US Navy, currently serving aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts, and Chief Petty Officer Bruce C. Cowdrey, Jr., US Navy, and his wife, Kim, of Saratoga Springs, NY; two great grandchildren, A1C Brittany Ann Cowdrey Biggs, US Air Force, and her husband, A1C Aleck Biggs, US Air Force and Francesco A. "Frankie" Cowdrey; a nephew, Bill Droheim of Terryville; and her goddaughter, Laura Barr of Bristol. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Droheim, and a niece, Judy DeRobertis.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 30, 2013, at 11 AM at Burlington Congregational Church, 268 Spielman Highway (Route 4), Burlington. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Bristol. The family will greet friends at the church between 10:30 and 11 AM. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol is in care of arrangements.
