DAVIS, Lincoln J., Jr.
Lincoln J. Davis, Jr., 65, of Hartford, passed away suddenly on Monday (June 3, 2013). He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Lorraine K. Davis. Lincoln aka, "Bodink," "Dink," and the "Legend," was very well known in the greater Hartford area. He was featured in the Hartford Inquirer numerous times after obtaining his Associates, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Business Administration degrees in an unprecedented three years. Some would say he had a photographic memory. Lincoln was a real estate mogul and business consultant and retired in 2003 as the Personnel Director of The Department of Mental Retardation. "Bodink" was an exceptional athlete excelling in track & field, football, basketball, bowling and his favorite passion later in life, golf. He won numerous trophies, championships and received many accolades and even played on a semi-pro football team. Lincoln displayed his vibrant personality when he appeared on a number of game shows including Card Sharks, Price is Right, and Family Feud just to name a few. Many agree that he excelled in any endeavor in which he participated. He was known for his collection and appreciation of antiques, from vases to cars. Lincoln was the key historian of the family, tying together the family tree amidst various generations. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing the world with his beautiful wife and visited many exciting and exotic locales around the globe. He was also known as a sharp dresser having custom made suits with designer shoes to match. Lincoln marched to the beat of his own drum. After embracing bible truths, he was baptized in 1987 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Many would see him on Farmington avenue early in the morning speaking with as many as he could about the hope and promises that Jehovah God holds out to those that want to make the necessary changes and do his will. He truly believed that very soon, this earth will be transformed into a paradise and he wanted to be one of the fortunate ones to live there. One of his famous phrases was, "The more information you have, the better informed decisions you can make". In addition to his wife, Lorraine, Lincoln is survived by five children, Tonya (Milton) Knight, Lincoln J. III (Sherry), Newman (Karen), Jerry, and Lance; nine grandchildren, Alisha, Krystal, Newman Jr., Jazmyne, Tariya, Amiyah, Lincoln IV, Ammon, Logan, and one great-grandchild, Aiden. He is survived by 13 siblings, Anitah Tyrone-Davis (Wayne), Addie Wardlaw (Douglas), Amelia Murray (John), Althea Martin (Bill), April Isaac (Reggie), Clinton, Earl, Abraham (Denise), Herbert (Deborah), Mitch, Gerald (Janet), Makeba, and Ahmad (Denise). He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Wanda, Deborah, and Mana, and Carol Cain (Lynwood). He was predeceased by his parents, Lincoln J. Davis Sr. and Geraldine (White) Davis; an uncle, Henry King; a brother, Maestro; a son, Toron; and a nephew, Michael.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 580 Tower Ave. in Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. in Windsor on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. with a time for sharing and reflections from 7-9 p.m. Burial in Linwood Cemetery, Colchester will be private. To the Davis Family. Bodink -what a guy. We were in the same Boy Scout troop- troop 132 that would meet at Barbour School every Tuesday night. In that troop were Chico (Bersford Lewis),Steve Harris (Buddy), Jackie Clark, Maurice Jennings, Lonnie Arnold, Butch Johnson, Kenny Carter, Lucky (Luther Smith) and others. I use to wonder how he could jump so high when we played basketball before the troop meetings. An excellent sportsman, orator and person. Just last month he and Ernie Perry visited me at my house and we shared spiritual readings of Jehovah. I was so good to see him jump out of the car that day in our driveway. A vibrant person what a smile. He will be missed.
With love, Lance Gordon and family.

To The Davis Family,
I have great fond memories of Mr. Davis. I remeber Mr. Davis playing in the over 40/Legend League Basketball Team at Quirk Middle School when I kept the books.
It was fun watching him, John Wilson, Corky Chambers, Clark and Norman King, Charlie Cohen, Lou Kelly and Red Douglas just to name a few shoot hoops and after the games sit and shoot the breeze for hours.
Although I was a young lady, he never let me forget to be a lady at all times. These are great men and I appreciate having know Mr. Davis.
My most recent memory of Mr. Davis, was seeing him at Lincoln Lake Lodge sitting in his Chair outside the gate in his hat as he watched the hundreds of people coming to a concert on his grounds. It was really good to see and talk to him.
