CICHON, Lorraine (Genovesi)
Lorraine (Genovesi) Cichon, 81, of Ellington, beloved wife of the late Walter R. Cichon Sr., peacefully went to her eternal home on Saturday, (December 29th, 2012) surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. Born Dec. 22, 1931 in Manchester, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Irene (Accomazzo) Genovesi. She was a longtime resident of Ellington and a devoted communicant of St. Luke Church. Lorraine earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a Master's Degree in Education from Boston University. She enjoyed teaching fifth grade in the Manchester and Wallingford school systems before raising her family. Her greatest accomplishment was the wonderful life and unwavering love she gave her husband, children and family. Her children share warm memories of their mom volunteering countless hours to the church, schools and numerous other organizations. Lorraine received great enjoyment traveling with her family to Florida each winter; Vermont excursions; and taking cross country trips with her husband. She also loved gardening, music, theatre, antiques, swimming, and following the Boston Red Sox and UConn Huskies. May her love for life and her faith in God continue to bless all those that she has "touched". She is survived by her daughter Deborah and husband, Gary Drown, of South Windsor; her son Walter Cichon Jr. and his wife, Shayne, of Vernon; and her daughter Kimberly and husband, John Downes of Kensington; six grandchildren, Jesse and Zackry Drown, Jake Cichon, John, Erin and Matthew Downes; and a great-grandchild, Aiden Drown. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Brand of Columbia, Adrienne and Irene Cichon of Willimantic, Margaret "Peggy" Cichon of Worcester, MA; her cousin and lifelong friend, Carol Bielefeld of Farmington; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Maria Dixon, Maureen Smith and the rest of the Masonicare Hospice team along with Dana Kessler, Carol Weber and CCCI for their support comfort and guidance throughout the years. The family expresses an enormous amount of gratitude to all of Lorraine's caregivers throughout the years especially to Bonnie Correia, Suzanne Curtis, Robin Fiorita, Lori Klotzer, Gina Millix, Audrey Owens-Alexander and Stacey Robbins for the joy, love, compassion and tireless support they gave daily to Lorraine and her family. They were truly "angels" sent from above and gave unselfishly so that Lorraine could live in comfort and with dignity.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville (Vernon). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of St. Luke, 141 Maple St., Ellington, with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Lorraine's name can be made to St. Luke Church, PO Box 246, Ellington, CT 06029. For an online memorial guestbook, please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.

Very sad to hear of the passing of "little" Cousin Lorraine. I will always remember how kind and gentle she was. It was truly special that she and Wally attended our wedding in 2001.
