Lorraine Grenier

Lorraine (Dionne) Grenier, 63, of Farmington, died peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 20, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Gabriel R. Grenier for 43 years. Born in Madawaska, ME, she was the daughter of Lucille (Fongemie) Dionne of Madawaska, and the late Leo Dionne. Lorraine retired from the West Hartford Board of Education as a para-professional after 23 years of employment. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Newington. Devoted to her family, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them swim in the pool. She spent many hours crocheting doilies and knitting blankets. A loving mother and grandmother, she leaves two daughters, Lisa G. Arute of Berlin, and Lori-Ann Matteson and her husband Kevin of Newington; and five grandchildren, Jaclyn and Morgan Arute, Austin, Logan and Konnor Matteson. She also leaves two brothers and three sisters, Br. Nelson Dionne, S.C. of Rome, Italy, Cecile Thibodeau and her husband Herman of Vernon, Connie Cyr and her husband Jim of West Hartford, Charlene Saucier and her husband Gary of Lewiston, ME, and Danny Dionne and his wife Lynn of Bristol; her mother-in-law Georgina Grenier of Coconut Creek, FL; brother-in-law Bertrand Grenier and his wife Kitty of Newington; sister-in-law Freida Grenier of Vernon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her funeral service will begin on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 9:00 a.m., at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. She will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
