Lorraine B. Lemire

1928 - 2013

Lorraine Blanche Lemire, 84, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully Thursday (December 5, 2013) at Apple Rehabilitation Center of Avon. She was born in Hartford on December 16, 1928, daughter of the late Raymond Ellery Lemire and Blanche Louise (Matros) Lemire. Lorraine resided in Bloomfield for over 62 years and retired from the Hartford Board of Education after an inspired career teaching at McDough Elementary School in Hartford. She was a faithful communicant of St. Gertrude Church in Windsor and during her leisure time enjoyed playing bingo, attending her weekly bridge club, and traveling. She leaves six nieces and nephews, Leslie J. White (Goddaughter) of Imperial, PA, Wayne Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Joyce Fisher (predeceased by her husband Kenneth Fisher) of Catwassia, PA, John Jones, Jr. of Enfield, Paul Jones of Vernon, and Roseann Kuhn and her husband David of Vernon; two godchildren, Anna Crawford and John Misselwitz; several cousins including, Carolyn Kersias; nine great nieces and nephews, several great great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and extended family. Lorraine was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Jones and a godson, Kenneth Kersias. Lorraine's family will receive friends at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Her funeral will begin from Carmon Funeral Home at 9 a.m., Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church, 550 Matianuck Avenue in Windsor. Committal prayers and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Bethany Cemetery, Monson, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior's Project, P.O.
