FLAVELL, Margaret
Margarett Flavell, 89, of West Scarborough, ME and formerly of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday (February 6, 2013). She was born in Brewer, ME, on Dec. 20, 1923, the daughter of Clyde and Verna (Stewart) Savage. Margarett graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco, ME, class of 1943, and subsequently moved to Hartford. She worked for both the Hartford Police Department and the Hartford Welfare Department in the 1940s and 1950s. On Aug. 2, 1952, she married her husband Gilbert Flavell of Manchester, where they lived for forty years. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother while raising her loving family. In 1989, she moved back to Scarborough to care for her mother. Margarett was predeceased by her husband Gilbert Flavell; her mother and father Clyde and Verna L. Savage; her aunt Jessie Stewart; and her grandparents Robert and Margaret (Norton) Stewart. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen June Flavell of Manchester; her son CAPT Drew Flavell, USN and his wife Melissa of Alexandria, VA; and her cousin Earl Smith of Manchester.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth, ME. Arrangements are under the care of Jones-Rich-Hutches funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland.
