CAMPAGNA, Maria Rosa
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Maria Rosa "Rosina" (Marino) Campagna, of New Britain. Rosina passed away peacefully on Saturday, (August 30, 2013), surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted widow of Giuseppe R. Campagna with whom she shared 64 years of marital bliss. Born in Italy, Rosina was the daughter of the late Nicola Marino and Elisabetta (Parisi) Marino. At her essence, she was a woman wholeheartedly dedicated to her family and faith, who was most notably devoted to S. Caterina VM Alessandrina and the Madonna di Pompeii. As the matriarch of the family, she will forever be remembered as a nurturing, compassionate and loving woman who not only raised her own daughter, but also dotingly helped raise her two granddaughters. Rosina is survived by her daughter, Rina (Campagna) Giannini of New Britain; her granddaughters, Etta Setaro, and her husband, Gaetano, of Wolcott; and Dr. Marisa Cartiera, and her husband, Ernesto, of Cheshire; four great-grandchildren whom she adored, Domenic Campagna Setaro, Marina Teresa Setaro, Carina Campagna Cartiera, and Siena Giuliana Cartiera; two brothers, Nicola and his wife, Maria, of Italy, and Vittorio and his wife, Maria, of New Britain; two sisters-in-law, Rose Fazio, of Plainville, and Immacolata Marino, of New Britain; two brothers-in-law, Vincenzo Campagna and his wife, Maria, of New Britain, and Mario Campagna of Old Lyme. Also surviving are many sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews in the United States, Italy, and Australia. She was predeceased by seven brothers; one sister; numerous brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews. Anyone that knew Rosina felt truly blessed and honored with her love. Her generous nature, selfless acts and tender heart inspired these qualities in others. Rosina's nurturing ways evoked a sense of maternal love and care in all that she did. She will forever hold a special place in her family's heart and they will aspire to emulate her example of all-encompassing love.
Family and friends may grieve the loss of Rosina during funeral services to be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
