Mary Maynard Obituary
Mary Rosalie Maynard, born June 17, 1923 in Unionville, CT, to Edward and Anna Minter White, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 13, 2013. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Welton and Phyllis Maynard, Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, Lisa Maynard, Riverhead, NY, and Chris Maynard, Birmingham, AL; two step grandchildren, April Durden, Tennessee and Chris Mansel, Montgomery, AL; three great step grandchildren, Alissa Lambert, Connor Mansel and Lake Collins. Mary had a beloved sister-in-law that she called her sister, Annette White, Rocky Hill, CT; niece and her husband, Patrice and Vaughn Modeen, South Windsor, CT; nephews, Kevin and his wife, Diane, Tolland, CT, John White and Brian White, Rocky Hill, CT. Mary worked at Aetna Life & Casualty Co. in Hartford, CT, for 30 years; she enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her family. She moved with her husband, Alfred of 59 years to Chatham Cape Cod, where she was known as "the knitting lady" for her beautiful sweaters, scarves and hats. After the death of her husband, she moved to Montgomery, AL, to be near her beloved family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her parents; her brother, Edward White of Rocky Hill, CT, and sister, Claire White of Unionville, CT. Private graveside services will be held in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.alabamaheritagefh.com. Alabama Heritage Directing.

My late husband John and I were neighbors of your parent's and they were active in the Cape scene craft fairs that we ran for many years. Your mother did all the craft shows which we promoted, "The Whale's Eye" which were held at the old elementary school here in Chatham. Mary knitted beautiful sweater sets for our first two grandsons, who are now 24 and 25 years of age, I still have those sweaters. Mary and I got together after our husbands passed, your Dad died just before my husband John who died this past Sept. 10 years ago. I remember your father's strawberry garden. We kept in touch when Mary first moved to Alabama, but last few years not so much. Sorry for your loss, and condolences to your family.
