Mary Russo

Mary (Filingeri) Russo, 72, of Middletown, died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Born in Melilli, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Carmela (Romano) Filingeri. Mary came to the United States at the age of 13. She was married to her husband, Salvatore Russo in 1960 until his death in 2013. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was employed by Good Year Manufacturing, the State of Connecticut at Connecticut Valley Hospital and the Veterans' Hospital in Rocky Hill. Mary, or "Nonna" as she was known, was an excellent cook who really enjoyed preparing fabulous Italian meals for everyone who entered her home. She is survived by her daughters Tina Wnuk and Carm D'Amico, her sons in law, Mike Wnuk and Lou D'Amico, Jr., her beloved grandchildren who she loved very dearly, Mike Wnuk, Jr., Jennifer Wnuk, Christina D'Amico and Nicole D'Amico, a brother Frank Filingeri and a sister Joann Russo. She was predeceased by her husband Salvatore Russo and her sister Sebastiana Vinci. "We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love."
