STARR, MaryRose A.

MaryRose A. (Godvin) Starr, 80, of West Hartford, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence E. Starr. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late John and Anna (Ferguson) Godvin, she was raised in Newington and attended local schools before relocating to West Hartford 20 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Newington and for the past forty years enjoyed helping to raise her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing, taking cruise vacations, visiting the beach and being by the water, and watching movies, especially Gone with the Wind. MaryRose was a friend to everyone and was loved by all who knew her. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves her daughters, Ann Carlson and her husband James of Middletown, and Rosemary Marino and her husband Dean of West Hartford; her grandchildren, James Carlson and his wife Lisa of Haddam, Joshua Carlson and his wife Amanda of Amherst, NH, Caroline Carlson of Middletown, Kelsey Ann Marino of West Hartford and Dean Marino, Jr. of West Hartford; and her great grandchildren Gavin and Nicholas Carlson. She also leaves her sisters Janet Starr of Southington and Joan Melnick and her husband George of Pomfret; and several nieces, nephews and many loving friends. MaryRose was predeceased by her sister Catherine Piechta.
Her funeral service will begin on Monday, August 5, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
