YANDOW, Maurice E. "Moe", Jr.
Maurice E. "Moe" Yandow, Jr., 82, of Wethersfield and Niantic, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, (November 3, 2013). Born in Hartford, July 13, 1931, son of the late Maurice E. and Ada (Machabee) Yandow Sr. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, married to for 60 years Marilyn (Loughlin) Yandow, with whom he enjoyed many good times and family gatherings at their beach house in Niantic. The Family was everything to Moe. He graduated from Providence College in the class of 1953 with a B.A. in economics. He served his country during the Korean conflict in the United States Marine Corps as a 1st Lt in the 2nd Marine Division until 1955 and then in the reserves until 1962. He dedicated over 50 years to the The Fowler & Huntting Company, Hartford, serving as President from 1988 - 1995, and as President of Fowler's Ltd. from 1982 - 1993. Moe has been appointed by Governors Grasso, O'Neill, Weicker, Rowland, Rell, and Malloy to serve as a member of the Connecticut Marketing Authority since 1979 until present, and was appointed to the Executive Committee from 1983-1992. John Chester School 1963-1964, and a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years receiving many awards including the Silver Beaver in 1993 and the James E. West Award in 2003. Maurice E. Yandow was a member of the Providence College Class of 1953. Since his graduation he has been a loyal Alumnus and generous benefactor of PC. He has served as a member of the Class of '53 volunteer leadership committee which organized anniversary reunions and special class gift initiatives over the years. Thanks to the work of Moe and his class committee members the Class of '53 has benefitted the College in several significant ways including the establishment of an endowed Class of '53 Father Casey Scholarship Fund, funding of the Altar in the campus Chapel and funding of the main entrance foyer in the Concannon Fitness Center on the campus. I am so sorry to hear of Moe's passing. I really liked Moe. He was a good man. I remember helping him write letters to politicians when I worked at Fowler's. We had some good times. When I graduated from college, he was thoughtful enough to give me Cross pens. It always meant a lot to me to have had the good fortune to work at Fowler's and know the Yandows, especially Moe. My heart goes out to his family at this tough time. I'm sorry I didn't make it to the wake. I just found out.

Our Deepest sympathy to Marilyn and the whole family. Moe was a very close friend of mine since his teens. He used to bring girlfriends to our home for our approval and we picked Marilyn as the first choice. I hope there is a good bridge game in heaven so Moe can make one of his famous seven no trump bids. I know there are a lot of other good marines there to talk with.

To Bob and all the Yandows, so sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember your Dad at the countless basketball games we held in your driveway as kids. He had the most accurate two-handed set shot ever, and he always welcomed us to stay longer, even though we were a noisy bunch. A great guy.
